Plant Care Specialist - Part Time

Role Description

Our Plant Care Specialists are the heart of our maintenance program. The ones who keep our clients’ plants thriving and their spaces feeling alive. This role blends horticultural knowledge, customer service, and hands-on care. You’ll work directly in clients’ homes and businesses, ensuring their plants stay healthy, beautiful, and aligned with the Plantitas Verdes standard of quality.

Responsibilities

Plant Care & Maintenance

• Visit clients on a routine schedule to provide ongoing care for their interior plants.

• Water, fertilize, prune, clean foliage, and inspect for pests or disease; take action when needed (treatments, adjustments, reports).

• Repot plants, refresh moss, and recommend replacements when plants outgrow their vessels or environments.

• Clean and maintain planters, floors, and surrounding areas to leave each space better than you found it.

• Style plants thoughtfully to ensure each one complements its environment.

Technical Requirements

• Carry and transport provided plant care supplies; lift plants and planters as needed.

• Safely climb ladders to reach tall plants and trees.

• Keep track of materials, tools, and inventory needed for maintenance visits.

• Document plant health, treatments, and follow-up care needed.

Client Communication

• Provide friendly, professional updates to clients during or after visits.

• Notify the team of plant concerns, replacements needed, or changes in plant performance.

• Maintain a polished and service-oriented presence in clients’ homes and businesses.

Team Support & Admin

• Assist with administrative tasks such as logging visits, updating care notes, and submitting before/after photos.

• Support the design and install team with projects as needed (repotting, moving plants, staging).

• Follow company procedures, safety guidelines, and brand standards for all maintenance work.

Required Qualifications 

• Passion for plants and a willingness to learn plant care techniques.

• Prior experience in plant care, horticulture, or maintenance is a plus but not required, we provide training.

• Comfortable with physical work: carrying supplies, lifting heavy items, climbing ladders.

• Strong communication skills, reliability, and attention to detail.

• A positive attitude, professional presence, and a love for creating beautiful spaces.

• Enjoys routine, structure, and working independently.

• Has an eye for aesthetics and understands that plants are part of the design story.

• Shows up with intention, kindness, and pride in their work.

• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.

Wages & Hours

• Hours: Approximately 16 hours per week, typically scheduled across two full days.

• Growth: Additional hours may become available as our client roster expands.

• Pay: $22/hour.

• Mileage Reimbursement: Provided for all work-related driving.

• Sick Pay: Accrued and paid in accordance with California requirements.

• Holiday Pay: Paid company holidays.

• Cell Phone/Data Stipend: Monthly stipend to cover work-related usage.
